India finished the top nation at Australian Para Badminton International 2025, which concluded on Saturday in Bendigo.
Led by double gold medallists Pramod Bhagat and Sivarajan Solaimalai, the contingent won nine of the main events, five more than the host nation.
Bhagat’s victories came in SL3 men’s singles – where he defeated compatriot Manoj Sarkar 21-15 21-15 in the final – and SL3-SL4 men’s doubles (with Sukant Kadam).
Solaimalai mirrored Bhagat’s feat in the SH6 category, clinching gold in singles and doubles. The 30-year-old beat fellow Indian Sudarsan Saravanakumar Muthusamy 21-12 21-12 for the singles title before combining with his vanquished opponent to down countrymen Suresh Kumar Bokolia/Nithin Tazhe 21-13 21-13 in the doubles final.
India’s other gold medals came through Ruthick Ragupathi/Manasi Joshi (SL3-SU5 mixed doubles), Surya Kant Yadav (SL4 men’s singles), Chirag Baretha/Ragupathi (SU5 men’s doubles), Tazhe (SH6 mixed doubles with New Zealander Amy Dunn) and Sarumathi (SL4+SU5 women’s singles).
