New Eye Level Cups Donated for World Junior Championships 2022

Former BWF President and chairman of the World Youth Culture Foundation, Dr Kang Young Joong, has donated another five new Eye Level Cups to be awarded to the winners at the BWF World Junior Championships 2022.

Dr Kang, who is an honorary life vice-president of the BWF, first donated the Eye Level Cups in 2011 as part of his support of developing badminton amongst the youth.

The next edition of the BWF World Junior Championships 2022 will be held in Spain next October.

Mixed Team Event – Monday 17 to Saturday 22 October 2022

Educational / Cultural Activities – Sunday 23 October 2022

Individual Events – Monday 24 October to Sunday 30 October 2022

It will be the first World Junior Championships held since 2019, after COVID-19 caused the cancellation of the 2020 event in New Zealand, and recently the 2021 event in China due to it not being feasible to conduct any tournaments in China this past year.

Originally, BWF had postponed the 2021 event hoping to reschedule it for the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022, but no solution could be found due to the many COVID-19 complexities around travel and safety of young athletes.

BWF is confident and committed to the World Junior Championships taking place in 2022 and we hope that Junior Circuit Tournaments will also be able to resume to a larger extent across all regions in the first quarter of 2022.

BWF would like to thank Dr Kang for his ongoing contributions to the sport.
