Two Players Withdrawn from Spanish Para Badminton International 2021

Badminton World Federation (BWF) can confirm that two players have been withdrawn from the Spanish Para Badminton International 2021 after one player tested positive for COVID-19.

One French player has been withdrawn after testing positive to the mandatory mid-tournament PCR test conducted on Friday. The player has been asked to self-isolate in their hotel room.

Another French player has been identified as a close contact of the positive French player and has also been asked to quarantine in their hotel room.

Both French players were due to play in a semifinal match today. Their opponents will be given a walkover to the final.

Testing protocols continue to be implemented by the Spanish health authorities, the Spanish Badminton Federation (FESBA) and the BWF to ensure the health and safety of all participants.

The Spanish Para Badminton International is the final qualifying event before the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
