Q & A

When and where you began playing, and why this sport?
"I started playing in 1991 in the club of my hometown Grong (Norway). I started because two of my best friends played, and they always talked about all the fun they had at badminton training. And I totally agreed with them! Currently, I enjoy the sport because it gives me the chance to follow my dream and to develop my game and see how far I can push my body physically and mentally, both in training and competition, and to get the chance to travel the world, see new places and meet a lot of nice people."

Your equipment sponsor and current racket model?
"Yonex, Armortec 900 Power"

Your training regime?
"Badminton technique sessions (7 - 8 times a week) and Physical sessions (3 - 4 times a week)"

Memorable sporting achievements?
"2004 - First time national singles champion and since then I've won it 7 times. Iceland International 2009 and 2011 (finished in third place) - this is my favourite tournament as I achieved my best results there, and I enjoy the hall and the hospitality of the Icelandic people."

Sporting awards / Honours (so far)?
"In 2010, I received an award through the county's newspaper. This award is of course for sports achievements, but just as much for being a good role model and a positive person for the environment. This an award I feel honored to receive. In 2007, I received a cultural award from my home town, which I appreciate very much. In 1999, I received an award from the Norwegian Association, given to a person which shows a training effort that is out of the ordinary."

Sporting ambitions?
"To become the best badminton player I can be and to compete at the Olympic Games in London 2012."
