BWF Maintains High Ranking in Top Governance Tier in ASOIF Review

BWF has again been recognised among the world’s leading International Federations (IFs) in the latest ASOIF Governance Review.

BWF ranked tied third overall, achieving 225 points in the 2025–2026 cycle, an increase from 218 in 2023–2024, and maintaining its place in the top governance tier. Top score was 228 points.

The review evaluates IFs across transparency, integrity, democracy, development and control mechanisms, with BWF’s result reflecting its continued commitment to high governance standards.

One key area of progress since the previous assessment has been the introduction of BWF’s new Sustainability Strategy.

This outcome reinforces badminton’s standing as one of the best-governed sports in the Olympic Movement as it continues to grow globally.

BWF Secretary General Thomas Lund said: “This reflects our sustained effort across our global badminton community to strengthen how we operate and lead.

“The introduction of our Sustainability Strategy has also been an important step forward, strengthening how we approach our long-term responsibilities as a global federation.

“Strong governance is fundamental to our credibility and future growth, and we remain committed to continuous improvement for the benefit of our members and the sport worldwide.”
