Egypt’s Adham Hatem Elgamal and Uganda’s Fadilah Shamika Mohamed Rafi returned atop the podium at the All Africa Individual Championships 2026 in Gaborone, Botswana, on Sunday.
Elgamal, who won his only men’s singles title in 2021, had to play just three points in the final as his opponent Jean Bernard Bongout (Mauritius) retired at 1-2.
Elgamal’s toughest test was in the quarterfinals, in which he was taken the distance by Algeria’s Adel Hamek. Having prevailed 24-26 21-11 21-19, Elgamal then beat third seed Lucas Douce in straight games in the semifinals.
In the other semifinal, Bongout had upset two-time champion and fourth seed Georges Julien Paul 21-8 21-8.

In women’s singles, 2023 champion Rafi got the better of 2021 champion Johanita Scholtz in a close encounter, 21-17 16-21 21-19.
The Ugandan had earlier survived a three-game semifinal against Yasmina Chibah of Algeria.
There were no surprises in the men’s doubles and mixed doubles, with Koceila Mammeri expectedly taking home a double. Mammeri and Youcef Sabri Medel won their eighth title beating Zambia’s Chongo Ezra Mulenga/Kalombo Mulenga 21-16 21-19.
Koceila returned for the mixed doubles with his sister Tanina, and the siblings duly took home their sixth straight title with a straightforward 21-12 21-9 defeat of South Africa’s Caden Kakora/Amy Ackerman.
Ackerman however had emerged champion in women’s doubles with Johanita Scholtz. The top seeded South Africans overcame Egypt’s Nour Ahmed Youssri/Doha Hany 21-18 21-17.
