China reaffirmed their dominance in the wheelchair category by winning five of the seven finals at BAHRAIN BWF Para Badminton World Championships 2026 on Friday in Manama, Bahrain.
Leading the charge once again were Qu Zimo and Liu Yu Tong, who each successfully defended the three gold medals they claimed two years ago in Pattaya, Thailand.
The golden run began in the WH1-WH2 women’s doubles, where Liu and Yin Menglu defeated compatriots Fan Chaoyue/Li Hongyan 21-14 21-13. China then secured the men’s doubles title as Mai Jianpeng and Qu overcame Korea’s Park Haeseong/Yu Sooyoung 21-16 21-17.
Liu continued her superb form in the WH2 women’s singles final, beating fellow Chinese Xu Tingting 21-13 21-11. Qu was equally dominant in WH1 men’s singles, dispatching Japan’s Keita Nishimura 21-9 21-13. The pair later combined to emphatically win the WH1-WH2 mixed doubles final, overwhelming India’s Prem Kumar Ale/Alphia James 21-6 21-4.
Liu now owns nine world titles, while Qu’s medal haul stands at eight.
“I feel I’m now more mature and intelligent, making me more unpredictable and threatening to my opponents,” said Qu. “I’m satisfied with performing at my full potential while aiming to maintain a high level of competitiveness.”
Liu echoed the pride of retaining her titles.
“I’m very happy to be able to win three gold medals at the second edition running. It gives me confidence to go back, make up for my shortcomings and prepare well for the Asian Games.”
Japan’s Sarina Satomi captured the WH1 women’s singles crown – her third world title – defeating Yin 17-21 21-13 21-16. It was a sweet victory for Satomi, who had lost to Yin in the semifinals at the last edition.

Satomi overcome by emotion after winning.
“I approached this tournament with the determination to win after losing to her in Pattaya and I’m very relieved to have won. I was incredibly frustrated then, I worked for this moment,” she said.
Japan celebrated another success as Daiki Kajiwara also secured his third WH2 men’s singles world title, defeating Yu 23-21 21-13.
