The inaugural BWF AirBadminton World Cup 2025 has undergone a last-minute change with the Netherlands replacing Venezuela in the competition.
The tournament will be held in Sharjah, UAE from 11-14 December featuring top AirBadminton teams from around the globe.
Venezuela earned their place earlier this year at the Pan Am Continental Championships in Lima, Peru, alongside Brazil. However, travel restrictions forced the team to withdraw, and third-placed El Salvador could not join on short notice.
To ensure a complete set of 12 teams, BWF invited the Netherlands, who finished fourth at the European Continental Championships. The Dutch team accepted and will compete in men’s and women’s triples as well as the team relay.
The updated lineup includes four teams from Asia, four from Europe, two from Africa and one each from Pan America and Oceania.
