Top seeds Thailand found themselves alongside Japan, Portugal and Ireland in Group A as the groups for the YONEX SUNRISE World Junior Team Championships 2025 were redrawn following the withdrawal of Team Cook Islands.
In the original draw conducted on 8 August 2025, Cook Islands were placed in Group A, which comprised four teams. Their withdrawal reduced Group A to only three teams, which does not comply with the group composition requirements outlined in the BWF Statutes, Section 5.2.1.2 (BWF World Junior Team Championships), Clause 9.1.1.
As per Clause 9.1.1:
“In the first stage, all teams shall play in groups of four or five teams, and/or in groups of six to eight teams divided into two subgroups (with 3 or 4 teams in each subgroup), where all teams play all other teams in the same group or subgroup as applicable.”
To ensure full compliance with the Statutes, and to maintain the integrity of the competition structure, a re-draw was required.
Junior heavyweights China are now grouped with Turkiye, England, Uganda and Ghana.
The World Junior Team Championships are contested for the Suhandinata Cup.
