Asian Para: Three-Gold Haul for Nitesh

India’s Kumar Nitesh captured gold in all three of his events at the NSDF Badminton Asia Para Badminton Championships 2025 that concluded in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, yesterday.

Nitesh, Paralympic champion in Standing Lower (SL3) men’s singles, held off Indonesia’s Muh Al Imran in a close first game before wrapping up the match 21-19 21-12. Nitesh then teamed up with Thulasimathi Murugesan for the mixed doubles (SL3-SU5) and the pair overcame compatriots Ruthick Ragupathi/Manasi Girishchandra Joshi 21-15 21-9.

Nitesh wasn’t done yet as he returned for the men’s doubles (SL3-SL4) final partnering Sukant Kadam against Jagdish Dilli/Naveen Sivakumar. Nitesh/Kadam toppled their second-seeded teammates 21-17 11-21 21-11.

It was a good event for Paralympic champions with China’s Liu Yu Tong and Qu Zimo also sweeping their events to finish with three gold each. Liu captured the women’s singles wheelchair (WH2) gold beating compatriot Li Hongyan and the women’s doubles (WH1-WH2) gold with Yin Menglu.
