World No.1 Daiki Kajiwara defended the WH2 men’s singles title for another year at the Spanish Para Badminton International 2025 I.
The Paralympic champion extended his record by comfortably beating compatriot Takumi Matsumoto 21-7 21-8. In the semifinal, he hardly broke a sweat in the 21-3 21-3 win over Rick Cornell Hellmann of Germany.
Kajiwara’s winning streak started in 2022, meaning this is his fourth consecutive triumph at the Toledo event. Impressively, he has not dropped a single game across the four editions.

Meanwhile, Oleksandr Chyrkov won his first Level 1 title in stunning fashion, defeating the world’s top three SL3 men’s singles players – Kumar, Daniel Bethell and Manoj Sarkar – en route to victory. The triumphs over Bethell and Sarkar were also his first against the duo. The Ukrainian was given a standing ovation after coming through the final against Bethell 21-17 13-21 21-17 in a whopping 138 minutes.
