Indian male shuttlers ruled Egypt Para Badminton International 2025, bringing home all 10 titles in men’s singles and doubles from Cairo on Sunday.
World No.4 men’s singles player Sivarajan Solaimalai clinched gold in SH6 men’s singles and doubles (with Sudarsan Saravanakumar Muthusamy). In the men’s singles final, Solaimalai lost the first game 23-21 to doubles partner Muthusamy but came back to win the following games 21-9 21-18.
Poorna Rao Chapara also brought home both titles in men’s singles and doubles, winning WH1 men’s singles in two straight and consistent games, 21-17 21-17 over Tarek Abbas Gharib Zahry. The WH1-2 men’s doubles title (with Manjunatha Chikkaiah) was secured by beating David Follett/Nurul Hossain Khan 21-8 21-10. Another player to win two categories was Hardik Makkar, in SU5 men’s singles and doubles (partnering Ruthick Ragupathi).
India’s other victories came via Pallavi Kuluvehalli M (WH1 women’s singles and WH1-2 women’s doubles with Alphia James), James (WH2 women’s singles) and Rachana Shaileshkumar Patel (SH6 with Yasmina Eissa).
Home player Eissa also gained titles in SH6 women’s singles and mixed doubles (pairing with Maxime Greboval of France).
Among other players to top the podium were Follett (England)/Marilou Maurel (France) in WH1-WH2 mixed doubles, Nigeria’s Mariam Eniola Bolaji (SL3 women’s singles SL3) and France’s Mathis Clement/Marjorie Boigeol (SL3-SU5 mixed doubles). Boigeol also took the SL4 women’s singles crown.
