Bahrain Para: Seven-Gold Haul for Indonesia

Indonesian shuttlers had a solid Bahrain Para Badminton International 2024, taking home six titles from Manama on Sunday.

Indonesia also bagged three silver and two bronze medals.

The legendary Leani Ratri Oktila led the way as usual, winning gold in SL4 women’s singles, SL3-SU5 women’s doubles (with Khalimatus Sadiyah) and SL3-SU5 mixed doubles (Hikmat Ramdani).

The other triumphs came via Ramdani (SL4 men’s singles), Dheva Anrimusthi (SU5 men’s singles), Qonitah Ikhtiar Syakuroh (SL3 women’s singles) and Fredy Setiawan/Dwiyoko (SL3-SL4 men’s doubles).

India finished a distant second on the medals table with three gold.

Their heroes were Manoj Sarkar (SL3 men’s singles), Prem Kumar Ale/Abu Hubaida (WH1-WH2 men’s doubles) and Alphia James/Pallavi Kuluvehalli (WH1-WH2 women’s doubles).

The tournament also saw two-time SU5 Paralympic champion Cheah Liek Hou of Malaysia suffer his first defeat in a year, losing 17-21 22-20 21-23 to doubles partner Muhammad Fareez Anuar in the semifinals.
