BWF and the French Badminton Association co-delivered the badminton sports initiation activation at Porte de La Chapelle Arena during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The initiative inspired over 30,000 visitors to the venue to pick up a racket and try the sport across the 15 days of competition at both Games.
This enabled spectators to try the sport in parallel with the opportunity to watch our top athletes performing at the highest level.
The programme consisted of an AirBadminton court positioned directly after the main spectator entrance and two interactive booths inside the arena.
These provided visitors with an opportunity to hit the AirShuttle and experience outdoor badminton, take memorable photos with Paris 2024 elements, and engage in a fun and dynamic games to test their reactions.
The activities were designed to be inclusive, allowing people of all ages, genders, abilities, and disabilities to get involved.
BWF President Poul-Erik Hoyer said: “I was amazed to see so many people queuing up to pick up a racket and try badminton. Even in the rain.
“It’s satisfying to know we had a lasting impact on the many visitors to our venue. It was clearly a great success and shows badminton remains relevant to many people.”
