BWF Rankings Return to ‘Live’ Status

BWF Rankings Return to ‘Live’ Status

The BWF World Rankings and BWF World Junior Rankings are once again ‘live’, reflecting the World Ranking points gained from tournaments over the last 52 weeks.
This is the first time since March 2020 that the World Rankings have been live. It may be recalled that, following the cancellation and postponement of events tournaments due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, rankings were frozen in week 12 of 2020.
With the COVID-19 situation improving through 2022, and with a full season completed, the return to live rankings was initiated in week 32 of 2022 through a staggered rankings process. The staggered rankings process was timed to ensure that the first rankings day of 2023 – Tuesday 3 January 2023 – would reflect the last 52 weeks.
In total, 213 tournaments were held during the frozen and staggered rankings period, from the 12th week of 2020 to the last week of 2022.
While the World Rankings and World Junior Rankings are now live, the BWF World Team Rankings are being updated to live status.
