Høyer Pledges Badminton Assistance

Badminton World Federation has lent its support to earthquake relief efforts in Nepal, with BWF President Poul-Erik Høyer attending a contribution ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand recently.

The event saw Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT) President Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul donate US$50,000 to the Nepal Badminton Association to help in earthquake relief and to restore the Banna Badminton Club.

“Nepal has suffered massive destruction and turmoil because of successive earthquakes in recent weeks. It has been a terrible experience for the people of Nepal and my thoughts go out to everyone affected by this tragedy, having had their lives torn apart,” said Høyer (above: speaking to media).

The BWF President also pledged that, at the appropriate time, BWF would assist in the resumption of badminton activities in the country, particularly BWF’s grassroots schools’ programme, Shuttle Time.
