Kims in Three Finals – Spanish Para-Badminton International 2017

Korea’s Kim Seung Suk, Kim Jungjun and Norway’s Helle Sofie Sagoy gave themselves a shot at three titles each at the Spanish Para-Badminton International 2017 on Saturday.

Kim Seung Suk will feature in the Women’s Singles Wheelchair (WH1), Women’s Doubles (WH1-WH2) and Mixed Doubles (WH1-WH2) events on finals day.

In the Women’s Singles, she will take on Switzerland’s Karin-Suter Erath, while in the Women’s Doubles, she and Kim Dae Young face Germany’s Valeska Knoblauch/Elke Rongen. In Mixed Doubles, Kim Seung Suk/Kim Jungjun take on Yo Yuen Chan (Hong Kong)/Man-Kei To (Belgium).

Jungjun will also feature in the MS (WH2) and Men’s Doubles (WH1-WH2) finals.

Sagoy will be seen in action in the finals of Women’s Singles (SL4), Women’s Doubles (SL3-SU5) and Mixed Doubles (SL3-SU5).

France’s Lucas Mazur, BWF’s Para-Badminton Male Player of the Year 2016, reached two finals.

Mazur made the SL 4 finals in Men’s Singles beating India’s Sukant Kadam 21-15 21-10 and the Men’s Doubles final (SL3-SL4) with Mathieu Thomas, beating Germany’s Jan-Niklas Pott/Pascal Wolter 21-18 21-12.

However, Mazur and Faustine Noel fell in the Mixed Doubles (SL3-SU5) semi-finals to Jan-Niklas Pott/Helle Sofie Sagoy (Norway) 8-21 21-13 21-19.

Poland’s Bartlomiej Mroz also made two finals – the Men’s Singles SU5 against Malaysia’s Liek Hou Cheah and the Men’s Doubles SU5 with Turkey’s Ilker Tuzcu against Cheah and Hairol Fozi Saaba.

Other twin finalists included England’s Daniel Bethell, Krysten Coombs and Rachel Choong (featured image).

Coombs will face compatriot Jack Shephard in the Men’s Singles SS6 category final, while in Men’s Doubles, the two will pair up to take on Ireland’s Niall McVeigh and Hong Kong’s Wong Chun Yim.
